Fergus McGovern

President, HotGen Limited

Fergus is one of the most successful entrepreneurial talents within the Video Games Industry, with over 23 years experience in interactive game and toy development. Chart topping games and award winning products have generated retail sales of over $4 billion US dollars for his publishing partners.

Fergus' position as one of the world's foremost game developers was cemented during his time as President of Probe Entertainment. Fergus co-founded Probe with partner Vakis Paraskeva in 1984. The Company was initially a developer and publisher of computer games for the early home computers such as the Commodore 64, Spectrum and Amiga. After the departure of his partner, Fergus transformed Probe into a global games developer with brother Kevin and became one of a few companies licensed to create console games for both the Sega and Nintendo platforms.

Probe spearheaded the development of some of the industry's most successful game franchises including Mortal Kombat™, FIFA Soccer® and Die Hard Trilogy™ for the Sony PlayStation, culminating in receiving the prestigious and coveted, Golden Joystick “Life Time Achievement Award”, for services to the Games Industry.

Such incredible success attracted the attention of the large entertainment studios. In October 1995, Probe was purchased by a leading US games Publisher which was listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in the United States. Fergus remained as a Senior Vice President of the Studio for three years before leaving to pursue other opportunities.

Fergus is now the founder and President of HotGen, the trusted toy and games developer for some of the world's leading entertainment brands and works in partnership with the premier powerhouses of entertainment content.

He has a “softography” of over 175 games developed and sold at retail on multiple consoles, handheld and PC platforms which are as diverse as the colossal Pac Man®, Star Wars®, Indiana Jones®, Barbie®, FIFA Soccer™, SpongeBob Square Pants™ and Mortal Kombat™ 1 & 2 to name just a few.

Fergus was granted the Freedom of the City of London for his continued work for charity and is an Associate Director of Crystal Palace Football Club.
